“EDUCATION IS NOT THE FILLING OF A BUCKET, BUT THE LIGHTING OF A FIRE.”

William Butler Yeats

“Because of Lee Cox’s thoughtful work with the leadership of BMW and the Bavarian Ministry of Education, we were able to assure our families who were moving to our plant in South Carolina that their high expectations regarding educational opportunities for their children would be taken care of.”

Dr. Clemens Schmitz-Justen

President, BMW North America, 2004-2007

Parents have a deep understanding of how a high-quality education can impact their children and they identify with the ideal reflected in the quote by the English poet William Butler Yeats. Indeed, educational quality is one of the most important investments parents make to place their children on pathways leading to successful and meaningful lives. “Ex-pat” families are particularly challenged in this regard. In addition to concerns about quality, compared to what they have experienced in their home countries, they and their children find themselves navigating in unfamiliar surroundings, unsure of the social and cultural landscape, and often at a loss for making contacts beyond their own ex-pat community.

I have worked extensively with international families as well as with educational organizations in Europe, South America, and Asia. I am pleased to consult with international companies on the educational and cultural opportunities available for their employees and families as they integrate into their new communities.
